At $399 the new Zelos Black Tip is a great all round dive watch, but it’s interesting to note how the Indie brand is price-walking like Seiko and others as inflation takes its toll. A couple of years back the typical 40/41/42mm, 200m, sapphire crystal Zelo dive watch was around $280, with special bronze case, or meteorite dial options costing $330-$360.
For something with the ubiquitous Seiko NH series movement inside, 400 bucks is quite a steep price. There are VAT and import duty costs on top for UK customers too don’t forget.
The new Black Tip range has purple, red, black, teal and mother of pearl dial colours to tempt you. Steel case, plenty of superlume, plus date feature make it a versatile watch, but there are loads of rivals on Ali Express, plus Orient, Citizen, Casio even Tissot entry level quartz watches like the Seastar 1000 at £375 to consider.
The Zelos launches ina couple of days – more here.
