Geckota has a new military style watch on their site, which is an update of the first generation of the Phalanx Special Operations.
Powered by a Swiss ETA 2824 movement, this one looks like decent value to us at £699. Many ETA powered watches are over a grand, depending on the brand name on the dial of course. It comes with a card type multi-tool, for those weekends away wild camping on Dartmoor. A very respectable 300m of depth resistance, plus superlume, just adds to the street cred in our view.
Here’s the word from Geckota;
The Gen 2 evolution of Phalanx builds on the success of the Gen 1. The new model has a more graphite, almost gunmetal, colour dial and bezel which adds a striking mechanical aesthetic to the watch and we have also redesigned the bezel to have blue full luminescence numerals around 360 degrees.
As with the Gen 1 any surface of the Phalanx that causes reflection has been subdued and in its place is a signature suppressed approach. Decimal time is still used during operations so we have retained it on the outer dial of the S-01 Phalanx. The watch is available in either PVD black, The Blackout, or subdued satin, The Intelligence model.
Dual luminescence colours remain with the bezel marker being different to the dial for accurate use at night. The offset crown at the 4 o’clock position ensures the utmost comfort when involved in outdoor activities such as diving, climbing or professional operational use. A unique 20-minute bezel timer brings symmetry to the offset crown.
The S-01 Phalanx is still powered by the ETA 2824-2 automatic movement and each watch comes with a uniquely engraved case back and individual serial numbers with SF prefix.
