Tap-fer-keit. We had to say it slowly as we trawled the web for india watch brands earlier and found this one. We like the Junghans style pilot watches in their line up and the 25% discount is also welcome.
Who are they? Tapferkeit are a UK based brand who launch their new models on Kickstarter, using Miyota movements and presumably get the manufacturing done in the far east. That’s the democracy of watch manufacturing we enjoy these days, anyone can do it on Kick and we say, that’s a great opportunity.
They just launched an automatic called the Freiheit, which is a catchy name. Minimalist design, 42mm case width and a Miyota movement, choice of extra straps at £15 each and it retails at £149. That is competitive.
Our only nitpick is that the date window at 6 o’clock is a bit small, otherwise this is a very refreshing alternative to a Sinn, Junghans, Skagen or even a Timex.
