Grand Seiko Still Making Exquisite Leather Straps

We thought you should know that Grand Seiko has not bowed down to the new religion of Wokery and stopped making leather or croc straps. Indeed they just posted a detailed article on how much time and care they put into creating their bespoke leather watch straps.

Yep, real leather, made from animals. Take that snowflakes.

The process involves making a leather sandwich of cow hide and crocodile, tanning and treating, stretching the hide and making sure it’s even in thickness, and as perfect as possible.

Yes, the stitching is done by hand and if you are old enough to recall trying to stitch a Holstein Lager beer mat or Status Quo patch onto your leather motorcycle jacket, then you will know that is no easy task.
