Skagen Aaren Ocean: Less Waste, More Watches

Skagen continue to expand their planet-friendly watch range with the Aaren Ocean. This range has cases made from recycled plastic waste, which would otherwise end up in the oceans.

The plastic bottles are made into a type of pellets, then melted and remade into a watch case and bracelet type strap, with some fibre in there presumbly to act as a bonding agent.

This is 41mm unisex watch, in a range of colours; black, blue, green, greay and white – with the white being a brand ambassador limited edition. All the same price in the UK at £159 RRP.

Case width is 41mm, foldover clasp and Japan quartz movement inside. If you are new to Skagen then you can get 15% off if you opt in for regular emails.

Verdict: Great to see plastic materials being recycled, but let’s have a solar power version and dispense with the button cell batteries every two years.
