Tribus are a new brand, started by people formerly involved with Christopher Ward. The watches are made in Switzerland and designed in the UK, with a COSC Chronometer in the line-up, plus Sellita powered automatics. Prices range from around £820 to just over £2900.
As the three Ward brothers behind Tribus are staunch Liverpool fans, they have signed a partnership deal with Liverpool FC, so that they can sell Premiership themed watches. There is reportedly a fair bit of investor cash behind this new brand as well – which is good news for Brit exports hopefully.
The Liverpool tie-up was a great idea, as it turned out, because Liverpool took the title this year. The team also has a huge fan base in China and lots of Chinese watch collectors love Liverpool too. It’s win-win.
If we have one criticism it’s that Tribus has too many Liverpool themed watches in the range. The 303 Squadron military watches look different, and tell a great story in their own right. Let’s hope there are more military styled items, plus a few dive models, from Tribus next year.
