UK based Militex Watches has launched their Duxford Spirit range on Kickstarter, looking to raise some 28K to produce motorsport themed meca-quartz watches. The handsome chronographs feature Seiko VK series movements, housed in 316 stainless steel case. They also have sapphire crystals, ceramic bezels and luxury leather straps. Each watch is numbered too by the way.
There is a black, white and cream dial option in the range. They all have the usual chrono stopwatch feature of course, plus lumed hands and markers, sub-second dial and a date window at the 4pm position. Decent lookers. A 42mm case size is just right for many watch enthusiasts and a 22mm lug width lets you choose from thousands of replacement strap options if you don’t like the 70s style perforated ones supplied.
We like the contrast stitching on the straps, just right, and the straps have an engraved buckle too. Little extra detailing like that always sets something apart. If you buy on the early bird pre-order then you get a second strap as part of the package, which is welcome.
Priced at £149 or £468 for a set of three watches, plus three spare straps, it is a fair price for a project that has taken two years to get off the ground. Based in Duxford, Militex are expecting to ship the first production watches in mid-December. More details here.
